One-page typed letter dated July 18, 1946, signed by Buzzie Bavasi in his capacity as general manager of the Nashua Dodgers (Brooklyn's minor-league club). In his letter, on official "Nashua Dodgers Baseball Club" letterhead, Bavasi responds to Harold Parrott, the Dodgers' traveling secretary. In full: "Dear Harold: Received your memo regarding the Campanella situation. It certainly is a problem and I hope its not too hard a proposition to straighten out. The boy has been looking forward to this check and I'd hate to make an attempt at explaining why it isn't here. I'd do the thing legally and explain to the Judge that a mistake was made while signing the contract. Of course I wouldn't mention any names until I got an OK from the Judge to pay the additional money. I believe I could get away with it if you would give me the permission to call the Judge. Regards E.J. Bavasi." It is signed "Buzzie" in black ink. The incident mentioned in the letter is likely regarding racial segregation at the time. The letter (8.25 x 10.75 inches) displays two horizontal folds and a number of pencil notations. In Excellent condition overall. Basic certification from PSA/DNA (a corresponding sticker is affixed to the reverse).
