1925 W504 Universal Toy and Novelty New York Yankees Team with Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig Rookie PSA POOR 1 - 1 of 1 - Highest Graded!

Rarely offered card of the 1925 New York Yankees featuring twenty-eight members of the team, including Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig as a rookie, from the unusual W504 Universal Toy and Novelty series. Interestingly, this team photograph is from 1923, a season in which a young Lou Gehrig joined the Yankees for 13 games, and was reused for this issue in 1925, his true rookie year when he had 126 appearances. These cards were sold in sheets featuring a larger team card (as offered here) and sixteen individual player cards, and were intended to be cut apart by youngsters. Encapsulated PR 1 by PSA, the card presents extremely well, with clean-cut borders (hand cut as intended) and only a heavy crease in the top right corner, which accounts for the grade. To date, PSA has only authenticated two examples of this card, with this the only numerically-graded example. A fascinating addition to any New York Yankees, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, or vintage card collection.
