Original photo of Jackie Robinson, taken by noted sports photographer Barney Stein, used in the production of Robinson's 1950 Bowman card. Encapsulated and certified as an original Type I photograph by PSA/DNA. A credit stamp on the reverse reads "Notice - This picture is not to be used directly or indirectly with commercial advertising or indorsement [sic]. Brooklyn National League Baseball Club, Inc." Robinson's last name, written in blue ink, also appears on the reverse. Barney Stein, who worked for the New York Post from 1939 to 1970, was also the official photographer of the Brooklyn Dodgers for over twenty years. Photos used in the production of trading cards, especially those featuring prominent Hall of Famers such as Robinson, have become increasingly popular in recent years. This is one of only a small number of vintage photos we have seen featuring a player image used in the 1950 Bowman set. The photo (8 x 10 inches) display a slight surface wrinkle in the lower left border and is otherwise in Near Mint condition. This is an iconic image of Robinson and one that should appeal equally to photo, Brooklyn Dodgers, and baseball-card collectors.
