Circa 1921 Babe Ruth Original International Newsreel Photograph PSA/DNA Type I - Image Used for 1932 Sanella Margarine Card

Circa 1921 original photo of Babe Ruth at the plate in a swing-through pose. Encapsulated and certified by PSA/DNA as an original Type I photograph. This is a superb original photograph of Ruth from 1921, his second year with the New York Yankees! The reverse bears an "Original International Newsreel" credit stamp, Ruth's name written in pencil, and a small paper clipping below the stamp. It is interesting to note that this particular image on the offered photo was used in the production of several of Ruth's cards, including his 1929-1930 Rogers Peet, 1932 Sanella Margarine, and 1932 Astra cards. Photos used in the production of trading cards have become increasingly popular in recent years. The photo (5 x 7 inches), which has exceptional clarity, displays faint editorial retouching marks along Ruth's image. There is a repaired tear along the right edge and light spots of discoloration on the reverse. Good condition overall.
