Vintage photograph capturing Hall of Fame pitcher John Clarkson. Certified as an original Type IV photo by PSA/DNA. The image of Clarkson seen here is the very same one used for his extremely rare 1893 Just So Tobacco card. The photograph captures Clarkson in uniform as he poses in a formal studio setting as a member of the Cleveland Spiders. The reverse features a "Gilliams Press Syndicate" credit stamp and a pencil notation. According to PSA/DNA, this "photo is a later-issued circa 1908 example that was made by Gilliams off a duplicate negative featuring an image originally taken in 1888." One of the great pitchers of his era, Clarkson won 328 games in just 12 seasons, including an astonishing 293 wins during the eight-year span 1885 to 1892. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1963. The photo (3.25 x 5.5 inches) has a few light creases and toning on the reverse. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
