Description

Exceptional piece of memorabilia dating to the mid-1910s chronicling some of the activities of the Roper Bros. Co. in this official "Minute Book." The piece is highlighted by two signatures of George Wright, an early baseball pioneer, Hall of Famer, and co-founder of the Wright & Ditson Company, which was one of the most important early sporting-goods companies in history and a major supplier of baseball equipment. A. G. Spalding & Bros. would acquire Wright & Ditson in 1892, but George Wright's involvement in sporting goods and retail establishments continued, including his position as a Director of the Roper Bros. Co. during this time period. The hardbound volume features more than twenty pages of minutes from company meetings, including a Waiver of Notice of Meeting from 1917, which Wright has signed atop a number of other Directors, and outlines their approval for the sale and dissolution of the company. This minute book also features the signatures of several additional early baseball luminaries, including two members of the Spalding family and John F. Morrill, a veteran 19th century player/manager. This book remains in outstanding condition and is highlighted by two scarce, fine condition signatures of George Wright. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA.
