Two-page handwritten letter circa 1925, and signed by the legendary "Manassa Mauler," Jack Dempsey. In his letter, written on "Hotel Barbara" stationery (Los Angeles, CA.), Dempsey scripts his full-name five different times within the body of the letter. In full: I B. Romero representing Jimmy Fulton, Charlie Levernie and Myself Hereby withdraw any and all Law Suit or Damage Suits against Jack Dempsey. That Jack Dempsey has full filled his agreement with said Jimmie Fulton, B. Romero and C. Levernie Promoters of Mexico and is in no way responsible for any law suits or damage suits non pending against said promoter or Jack Dempsey and if said Jack Dempsey should come back to Tampico to Box for said promoters, said promoters will be responsible for any and all suits or damage against Jack Dempsey. All the text has been scripted in black fountain pen. Based on our research, the content of this letter relates to a series of exhibition boxing matches held in Mexico that Dempsey was scheduled to appear at in 1925. However, due to illegal gambling controversies and riots breaking out in local cities, Dempsey had to leave Mexico, boarding a train headed for Texas. This letter represents a historic event in Jack Dempsey's legendary Hall of Fame boxing career. Each page of the letter (8.5 x 11 inches) displays a horizontal and vertical mailing fold and is lightly toned. In Very Good to Excellent condition overall. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
