Circa 1930s Lou Gehrig Original ACME Newspictures Photograph PSA/DNA Type I - Image Used for 1936 Wheaties Card

Original photograph of Hall of Fame first baseman Lou Gehrig used in the production of Gehrig's 1936 Wheaties - Series 3 card. Encapsulated and certified as an original Type I photograph by PSA/DNA. The familiar image captures Gehrig bending low in a fielding position as a member of the New York Yankees. An "Acme Newspictures" credit stamp appears on the reverse, as does remnants from the paper news caption. Photos used in the production of trading cards have become increasingly popular in recent years, especially those of Hall of Fame players. This is one of only a small number of vintage photos we have seen featuring a player image used in the 1936 Wheaties set. The photo (8-1/8 x 6 inches) displays light creasing along the bottom border and is otherwise in Excellent condition.
