Description

Presented is a near-complete set (20 of 25) of 1936 R322 Goudey entirely graded and encapsulated by PSA. Missing the following five cards for completion: Bonura, Cochrane, Coscarart, Martin, and Werber. This set is registered as the 12th highest-graded set on the PSA Set Registry with an overall GPA of 6.17. This unusual set is one of the most overlooked of all 1933-1941 gum-card issues, in part because the set does not include Babe Ruth or Lou Gehrig. Because of this, the 1936 Goudey set is also one of the most reasonably priced scarce sets of the era. Each card has a black-and-white image of a player. The reverse has a bio of the player and two terms related to the game of baseball (foul, strike, out, etc.). PSA Grading Composite: NM-MT 8 (4 cards): Bordagaray, Brubaker, Ferrell (HOF), and Hemsley. NM 7 (7 cards): Berger, Camilli, Castleman, Dykes, Gomez (HOF), Newsom, and P. Waner (HOF). EX-MT 6 (3 cards): Crosetti, Cuyler (HOF), and Klein (HOF). EX+ 5.5 (2 cards): Harris (HOF) and Higgins. EX 5 (3 cards): Derringer, Hildebrand, and Vosmik. VG-EX 4 (1 card): Greenberg (HOF). A very attractive mid- to high-grade near-complete set of this classic 1930s Goudey issue. Total: 20 cards. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
