1922-1923 Babe Ruth Royal Tailors Advertising Display

Rare page from a 1922-1923 Royal Tailors salesman's sample book featuring Babe Ruth. The large-format illustrated page (15 x 20 inches, visible dimensions) pictures Ruth in one of the company's coats, with the text making note that "Babe Ruth Pays No Tax On His Size." The quality and large size of this page, combined with the colorized image of Ruth, makes it an ideal display piece and one that has been recognized as a classic by advanced collectors for decades. Even though this is a page from an enormous salesman's sample book (printed on thick high-quality cardboard stock), it has the appearance and impact of an extraordinary retail advertising display piece. (It is no accident that the image of this page is famous, having been published countless times.). As we mentioned earlier, while the page itself is rare, the complete book is rarer still. When these books do surface, the Ruth page is almost always removed for framing and display (it is the only page in the book of this type).
