Description

1897 Detroit Tigers four-page fold-over scorecard featuring portrait images of three members of the Tigers on the cover, issued for a Western League game against the Grand Rapids Bob-o-links. The eight host cities of Western League clubs in 1897 are listed on the last interior page: Kansas City, St. Paul, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Detroit, Grand Rapids, Columbus, and Indianapolis. The Western League was the forerunner to the American League. The preprinted lineups include Hines and Steinfeldt for Detroit, and Campau and Slagle for Grand Rapids. The program (6 x 9-5/8 inches), which is not scored, has light creases and minor staining as well as a few chips of paper loss on the back cover. Edge tears impact the bottom border. Technically in Fair to Good condition overall but closer to Very Good in appearance and outstanding for display!
