Description

National Basketball League (NBL) playoff program from the 1946-1947 season. The playoff matchup was played on March 18, 1947 between the Ft. Wayne Zollner Pistons and the Toledo Jeeps. Founded by Fred Zollner, who owned a factory that manufactured pistons primarily for cars and trucks, the Zollner Pistons are regarded as one of the most successful early basketball teams. The Zollner Pistons would ultimately move to Detroit and be known as the Detroit Pistons, as they are today. In 1948 the Pistons moved to the Basketball Association of America (BAA) and the following year Fred Zollner led the merging of the BAA and NBL to form the beginning of the modern day National Basketball Association (NBA). The partially scored program (free throw columns only) measures 6.25 x 9.5 inches and displays light handling wear. Rare opportunity to own an important early basketball playoff program. In Excellent condition overall.
