Description

Presented is a program from the September 16, 1950 NFL matchup between the reigning NFL champions Philadelphia Eagles and the Cleveland Browns. This game marked the first appearance of the Brown's in the NFL as they had entered the league after the folding of the All-American Football Conference after the 1949 season. It is interesting to note that the game, the first of the season, featured two championship teams as the Browns had won the AAFC championship, and the Eagles the NFL championship, the prior year. The Brown's would go on to win the game by a score of 35-10 with a remarkable performance by Hall of Famer Otto Graham, who threw for three touchdowns and rushed for another. The Brown's, led by their original head coach and namesake, Paul Brown, would go on to complete a 10-2 season and ultimately be crowned winners of the 1950 NFL Championship, after a game-winning field goal by Lou Groza put them up by two points. NFL Commissioner Bert Bell called the 1950 Browns "the greatest team to ever play football." The program (7.75 x 10.5 inches) displays very light handling wear and is in Excellent condition overall.
