Description

October 19, 1929 collegiate football program featuring a match between Knute Rockne's Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Wisconsin Badgers. The game was held at Soldier Field in Chicago, which was the site of Notre Dame's three "home" games in 1929, as Cartier Field in South Bend had begun to be torn down and Notre Dame Stadium did not open until the following season. In 1929 Rockne was plagued with what has been described as a blood clot in his leg. Despite his condition Rockne made it a point to coach the team, either on the sidelines or by phone, for the entirety of the undefeated season. The program (8 x 10.75 inches) has a heavy center fold, a small tear on the bottom of the front cover, light staining on the reverse, and a few small creases. In Good condition overall. Striking program from a Notre Dame championship season led by Knute Rockne, who passed in 1931 in a plane crash.
