The University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) Southern Campus yearbook, dating from 1940, Jackie Robinson's first year at the school. Robinson was UCLA's first athlete to earn varsity letters in four sports. Robinson was one of four African American players on the football team, along with Kenny Washington, Woody Strode, and Ray Bartlett. Washington would become the first black player to sign an NFL contract, followed shortly thereafter by Strode. Robinson also played baseball and basketball and was a member of the track and field team. The 429-page yearbook (9.5 x 12 inches) displays light handling wear and is in Excellent condition overall. Robinson is mentioned and pictured multiple times, including him as a member of the school's baseball, football, and basketball teams.
