Fold-over scorecard issued for an August 31st game between the Brooklyn Grays and the Harrisburg club. The Grays, founded by real estate developer Charles Byrne, his brother-in-law Joseph Doyle (the team's first manager), and casino owner Ferdinand Abell, would win the Interstate Association championship in 1883, their last season before joining the American Association professional league. The team would go on to be one of the most prominent in baseball history, eventually becoming the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers. The neatly scored card shows Brooklyn dominating Harrisburg and winning the match 10-3. The scorecard (6 x 7.5 inches, unfolded) displays scattered creasing and small chips of missing paper on two corners. In Good condition overall. This piece would make a worthy addition to any vintage baseball memorabilia collection, as it is a rare item from the inaugural season of the team that would eventually become the Dodgers.
