Description

January 12, 1959 program for a game between the reigning champion Boston Celtics and the Minneapolis Lakers. The two professional teams played the game at the University of Washington's Edmundson Pavilion in Seattle. The 1959 "West Coast Tour" was held in Seattle and San Francisco in an attempt to expose the NBA to the west coast. It is interesting to note that during the off-season of 1960, Lakers owner Bob Short elected to move the team to Los Angeles. The Celtics, led by Red Auerbach featured future Hall of Famers Bill Russell, Bob Cousy, K.C. Jones, Tom Heinsohn, and Bill Sharman. The Lakers were led by future Hall of Famer Elgin Baylor. The partially scored program (8.5 x 11 inches) displays scattered creases, a heavy center fold, and multiple areas of blue ink writing on the interior pages. In Very Good condition overall.
