Neatly scored for both games of a September 6th doubleheader in pencil (for the first game) and black ink (for the second game). The Athletics would fall to the Yankees in both games. A five-run fourth inning, capped-off by Joe DiMaggio's three-run homer off Buck Ross, would propel the Yankees, who took game one by a score of 6-3. Lou Gehrig played an instrumental role in game two with a fourth-inning RBI, which would tie the game, and a sixth-inning run, which would secure the Yankees 2-1 win. Ultimately, the Yankees would finish the season with a 102-52 record, winning their ninth pennant and beating their crosstown rival Giants in the World Series for their sixth championship title.
