Lot # 2280: Nestor Chylak Signed Index Card - PSA/DNA

Unlined index (5 x 3 inches) card signed in blue ink by Hall of Fame umpire Nestor Chylak. PSA/DNA has encapsulated the card and certified the signature as "Authentic." Chylak has signed the card "Best Wishes/Nestor Chylak/American League Umpire." Chylak was an American League umpire from 1954 through 1978 and umpired in five World Series during his career (1957, 1960, 1966, 1971, and 1977). Unfortunately, he wasn't elected to the Hall of Fame until 1999, seventeen years after his death in 1982 at the age 59. Since Hall of Fame autograph collectors had no reason to ask for his autograph prior to his death, his signature today, in any form, is scarce. Excellent condition overall.
