Lot # 2612: Signed 1961-1962 Fleer Basketball #24 Phil Jordon - Key Rarity (Deceased 1965) - PSA/DNA

Extremely rare 1961-1962 Fleer basketball Phil Jordon card #24 (name misspelled as Jordan) signed by him in blue ballpoint pen on the front. PSA/DNA has encapsulated the card, certifying the signature as Authentic (one of just three signed examples certified by PSA/DNA). This is only the second signed example of this card we have ever offered. As anyone who has ever attempted to put together an autographed set of 1961-1962 Fleer basketball cards knows, Jordon is one of the key rarities to the assembly of a collection of all possible signed 1961-1962 Fleer basketball cards. The reason for that is timing. Jordon unexpectedly passed away on June 7, 1965 during a rafting accident in Washington state, leaving autograph collectors with less than a four-year window of opportunity to obtain his signature on the card. The significance of this card cannot be overstated, and it is a great privilege for us to document its existence and offer it to the hobby.
