Extremely rare example Hall of Famer Warren Spahn from the 1949 Jimmy Fund Boston Braves Die-cuts set, accompanied by the original mailing envelope. These oversized die-cut cards, which measure ranging from 6 to 8 inches wide and 12 inches tall, were regionally issued and feature only members of the Boston Braves in sepia-toned photos in front of a large baseball with an advertisement that reads "Thank You! in behalf of Jimmy" and script signatures on front. The reverse of the cards has an easel backing to allow the cards to stand up on their own and a square sticker affixed that suggests these cards be given to the largest contributor to the Jimmy Fund after the drive was concluded. This is one of the rarest regional sets in all of postwar card-collecting and to even find a sample card is a great collecting achievement, but a Hall of Famer, as offered here, is extremely desirable. As expected due to their fragile design and large size these cards are susceptible to a variety of condition issues, including creases and missing pieces (a bat or hand broken off). This is an extremely visually appealing example with the card having an Excellent overall appearance (small crease on lower left corner). Mounted and framed to total dimensions of 12.5 x 13.5 inches. Accompanying the card is a original mailing envelope with the Jimmy Fund logo in the upper left corner and the player's name below. Vg condition. Total: 2 items (card in framed display and envelope). The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
