Presented is a near-complete set of 1949 Bowman consisting of 234 different cards (out of 240 in the set). Many rookie cards of Hall of Famers are featured in this classic postwar issue. Missing the following six cards for completion: #24 Musial, 50 Robinson, 84 Campanella, 224 Paige, 226 Snider, and 233 Doby. This near set is highlighted by rookie cards of Richie Ashburn, Robin Roberts, Early Wynn, Gil Hodges, and Bob Lemon. Condition is 13% Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt, 48% Vg-Ex to Ex, 33% Gd to Vg, and 6% Pr to Fr (including two trimmed). We have selected 15 cards for grading and encapsulation by PSA. Keys: #1 Bickford (Fr), 11 Boudreau (Vg-Ex+), 23 Doerr (EX+ 5.5), 26 Kell (EX-MT 6), 27 Feller (VG 3), 29 Kiner (Vg+), 33 Spahn (NM 7), 36 Reese (VG-EX 4), 46 Roberts RC (EX-MT 6), 60 Berra (VG 3), 65 Slaughter (FAIR 1.5), 70 Furillo RC (Vg), 85 Mize NNOF (NM 7), 98 Rizzuto NNOF (Vg+), 100 Hodges RC (EX-MT 6), 110 Wynn RC (Vg), 111 Schoendienst (NM-MT 8), 162 Roe RC (NM 7), 175 Appling (Gd), 194 Branca RC (Ex), 209 Keller (Vg), 210 Gordon (NM 7), 214 Ashburn RC (VG-EX 4), 219 Trucks (Vg-Ex), 225 Coleman RC (Ex-Mt), 229 Lopat RC (Vg-Ex), and 238 Lemon RC (VG-EX 4). 1949 Bowman is the most underrated set in terms of rarity among Topps and Bowman sets issued between 1948 and 1955. This collection represents the foundation for an attractive medium- to high-grade complete set of this classic postwar gum card issue. Total: 234 cards.
