Graded GOOD+ 2.5 by SGC. This is the ONLY example of this front/back combination graded at this level by SGC with none higher! Superb T206 example of Monte Cross (Indianapolis) with a Tolstoi back. While Tolstoi isn't generally considered one of the more difficult T206 off-backs, it is in the case of Cross. What makes this combination special is that Tolstoi is Cross's only non-Piedmont or Sweet Caporal back. Cross is often the one subject that advanced collectors can't find with a non-Piedmont or Sweet Caporal back. As a point of reference, the most recent public sale for this particular front/back combination realized $13,800 in REA's Spring 2021 auction. The offered example presents with a beautiful red background, a crisp image, outstanding centering, and moderate corner wear. The important Tolstoi advertisement is boldly printed in black ink and displays partially erased pencil notations. This is an extremely attractive example of one of the most coveted T206 front/back combinations that would be a significant addition to even the most advanced T206 or rare-back collection.
