Graded FAIR 20 by SGC. This is the ONLY example graded at any level by either SGC or PSA! Extremely rare sample card of Hall of Famer Eddie Collins from the 1911 Stevens Firearms issue. Capitalizing on the Philadelphia Athletics' American League Pennant in 1911 (and their eventual defeat of the New York Giants in the World Series), Stevens Firearms issued a series of ink blotters featuring members of the team promoting Stevens' product line of rifles and shotguns. Measuring 6-3/16 by 3-7/16 inches, this card features a black-and-white image of Collins in a fielding pose, alongside the "Pennant Winners" headline and company advertising, as well as a box where retailers could stamp their specific address and information, underneath. Samples from this series are extremely rare. The offered example is crisp and clean with bold black printing on the front and even wear to the corners. There is a light creasing in the upper right corner. The blank reverse has scattered ink marks throughout. This is a modestly graded example of Eddie Collins that would be a worthy addition to any advanced Philadelphia Athletics, Hall of Fame, or type-card collection.
