Graded GOOD 2 by PSA. Mid-grade example of Ty Cobb from the 1922 V61 Neilson's Chocolate (Type 1) series. The V61 Neilson's Chocolate Type 1 series is one of the most substantial and overlooked sets from the 1920s. This is one of the key cards from the set. This example displays a strong image, rounded corners, centering slightly toward the right, and light toning front and back. Boldly printed "Neilson's Big League Bars" advertising reverse displaying a few spots of surface wear. It is interesting to note that this card was produced utilizing the same design and image as the American Caramel E120 series. The V61 Neilson's Chocolate (Type 1) set is numbered (Cobb is #30). In 1922 Cobb stepped to the plate 526 times and batted an extraordinary .401, second only to George Sisler (.420 average). This is a rarely offered example of Ty Cobb from a classic 1920s set issued during one of his greatest hitting seasons.
