Lot # 159: 1909-1911 E90-1 American Caramel Honus Wagner Batting SGC VG 40

Graded VG 40 by SGC. Attractive example of Pittsburgh Pirates Hall of Famer Honus Wagner from this extremely popular candy-card issue. The card is bright and clean, with incredibly vibrant colors, honest corner wear, a light crease near the upper right corner (most noticeable from the reverse), and slightly out-of-focus registration (a natural printing flaw as made). A tiny touch of paper loss is visible on the lower-right of the reverse. The E90-1 American Caramel set has two different poses of Honus Wagner (batting and throwing). This same batting pose was also used for E92 Dockman & Sons and other related candy-card issues from the 1910 era. Caramel cards in general are rarely found in high grade. This is a solid mid-grade example of Honus Wagner from one of prewar-card collecting's most desirable candy-card issues.
