Description

Presented is a near-complete set (49/50) of "Popeye" issued by Chix Confectionery in England in 1959. Each of these cards (2.5 x 3.5 inches) features a cartoon front and various combinations of jokes, riddles, and limericks on the back. To this day, Popeye remains as one of the most well-known and popular comic characters, and this set naturally has a great crossover appeal to both comic and character collectors. Missing only #7 for completion. Condition is 88% Vg to Vg-Ex (including a couple Ex) and 12% Gd. This is a very attractive mid-grade near-complete set (minus one) of this popular nonsports issue.
