Description

Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. One of only two examples graded at this level by PSA with just two higher. Outstanding mid-grade example from the WG1 Playing Cards set featuring Hall of Famer Buck Ewing. This is an exceptional key card from this rare set issued in 1888. The WG1 Playing Card set is one of the few 19th century sets printed in color. While this set has not received as much attention as many other pre-1900 issues, possibly because it is not a tobacco issue, it is a very rare set, far rarer than many of the most popular issues of the 1880s such as N28 and N29 Allen & Ginter. The offered card is bright, crisp, and clean, with minor edge and corner wear visible, and a small touch of paper loss on the blue reverse. This is an exceptional Hall of Fame example worthy of any high-quality WG1, Hall of Fame, or type-card collection.
