Rare team cabinet card capturing the National League New York Giants in 1894. This is only the second example of this particular team cabinet we have ever seen. All the players are identified in print on the base of the mount, including Hall of Famers Roger Connor, John Ward, George Davis, and Amos Rusie. The team name and year ("1894-New York Base Ball Club-1894") and the photographer's credit ("Prince, Fotografer - 91 Union Square, N. Y.,") also appear in print on the mount. The New York Giants won the World Championship in 1894 by sweeping the Baltimore Orioles in the first ever Temple Cup series that fall. The photo, which offers outstanding clarity, remains in Very Good condition with a few surface indentations visible above the equipment pictured on the ground in front of the players. The mount (6.5 x 4.25 inches) displays a tiny chip in the upper left corner, paper loss on the upper right corner and evidence of album on the reverse. In Fair condition overall. Major League team cabinets from this era are both scarce and highly prized by collectors, especially those featuring several future Hall of Famers like this example.
