Description

Graded VG/EX 50 by SGC. Strong mid-grade example of Cleveland Indians Hall of Famer Bob Feller's 1948-1949 Leaf card. This is one of card collecting's great classics. Bob Feller’s Leaf card is universally recognized as one of the scarcest and most significant of all postwar baseball cards. Chicago's Leaf Gum Company produced the first multicolor baseball cards of the post-World War II era in 1948-1949. Forty-nine cards in the set are considered "standard," and the additional "short print" series of forty-nine cards in the set are so rare that "Rare Leafs" has long been a formal card-collecting hobby term. Leafs are without question one of the toughest postwar sets to complete because of all the rare cards. Feller is not only one of the keys to this rare series, he is also one of the keys to the 1948-1949 Leaf set. The offered example displays vibrant colors, a crisp image, and light corner wear. Clean reverse with bold black test. This card presents a rare opportunity to acquire a very attractive mid-grade example of one of the most classic of all postwar baseball cards, at a small fraction of the cost, yet sharing almost all of the qualities of a higher-grade example.
