Graded GOOD 2 by SGC. Classic example of legendary Hall of Famer Ty Cobb in one of his most classic poses from the 1916 H801-9 Globe Clothing Store set issued in 1916. The 1916 H801-9 Globe card is identical to M101-4 Sporting News except for the different advertisement on the reverse. Though M101-4s are listed in the American Card Catalog as being issued with various backs, Jefferson Burdick elected to assign the Globe Clothing Store backs their own catalog number (H801-9). Globe reverses are seen much less frequently than Sporting News reverses. The offered card has a crisp image of Cobb. Downgrade due to moderate creasing and light staining on the front and back. The reverse has the "The Globe" advertisement boldly printed in black. This is a very interesting Cobb rarity with tremendous eye appeal, dating from the heart of Cobb’s great career, an era in which there were relatively few card sets issued.
