Graded EX+ 5.5 by SGC. This is the ONLY example graded at this level by SGC with none higher! Hands-above-head pose of Hall of Fame pitcher Walter Johnson from the M101-4 Sporting News series. The 1916 M101-4 set is one of the most highly regarded and comprehensive baseball-card sets of the era. The set is commonly referred to as issued by the Sporting News, but as most collectors know, the set was actually issued by several different companies. Cards were printed with advertising for regional issuers as well as with blank backs, like the offered example. Bright and crisp with strong corners with light touches of wear. The blank back is clean. This is a beautiful example that would be a significant addition to any Walter Johnson or prewar Hall of Fame card collection.
