Lot # 3: 1911 M110 Sporting Life Cabinet Christy Mathewson SGC GOOD 2

Graded GOOD 2 by SGC. Presented is New York Giants Hall of Fame pitcher Christy Mathewson, one of the key cards from the extremely rare M110 Sporting Life cabinet set issued in 1911. Each card in the M110 set features beautiful full-color pastel artwork on the front and advertising for Sporting Life on the reverse. M110s are similar in design to, but far rarer than, the contemporary T3 Turkey Red cabinets. This is one of the rarest and most beautiful of all Christy Mathewson cards. Bright and clean, both front and back, with a light diagonal crease near the top-left corner. The back has a boldly printed advertisement for Sporting Life. Downgraded due to light staining on the border in the lower left and surface wear on the reverse from removal from a photo-album page designed with strips of very light adhesive. This is an extremely attractive example of one of the most striking and rarest of all Christy Mathewson cards, with an appearance far superior to its technically accurate SGC-assigned grade.
