Presented is a near-complete set (minus one) of this significant basketball issue consisting of 65 different cards (out of 66). Missing #8 Chamberlain for completion (which appears individually in this auction). The 1961-1962 Fleer basketball set is one of the very few basketball sets issued during this era. Included are many rookie cards of key Hall of Famers, including Elgin Baylor, Oscar Robertson, and Jerry West. Condition is 25% Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt (including one Nr/Mt-Mt), 55% Vg-Ex to Ex (including some due solely to centering), and 20% Gd to Vg (including some due to miscut centering). We have selected three cards for grading and encapsulation by SGC. Keys: #1 Attles RC (Vg), 3 Baylor RC (EX 5), 10 Cousy (NM 7), 16 Greer RC (wax on reverse, otherwise Vg-Ex), 22 K.C. Jones RC (Ex+), 23 S. Jones RC (Ex-Mt), 36 Robertson RC (98/2 L/R, otherwise Ex), 38 Russell (EX/NM 6), 43 West RC (99/1 L/R, otherwise Ex-Mt), 44 Wilkins RC (90/10 L/R, otherwise Nr/Mt), 46 Baylor IA (wax on reverse, otherwise Ex), 47 Chamberlain IA (Ex), 61 Robertson IA (90/10 L/R, otherwise Ex-Mt), 62 Russell IA (Ex), and 66 West IA (95/5 L/R, otherwise Vg-Ex+). This is a very attractive mid- to high-grade near-complete set (minus one) of this significant basketball issue, loaded with all of the great stars and Hall of Famers of the era. Total: 65 cards.
