Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Only three examples grade higher out of 954 examples evaluated by PSA to date. Superb high-grade rookie card featuring Hall of Fame shortstop Phil Rizzuto. 1948-1949 Leafs have always posed a problem for condition-conscious collectors. In addition to the many normal problems encountered with this issue (excessive toning, general wear from fragile paper stock, soft corners, centering issues, and print lines), collectors also have to deal with the wildly varying degrees of print quality that characterize the set. It is easy to see why 1948 Leafs are one of the most difficult of all issues to collect in high grade. The offered card is crisp and clean, with vibrant colors, a flawless image, and strong corners. The reverse is clean and boldly printed. This is a fantastic example of one of Rizzuto's most classic cards.
