Description

Graded NM 7 by PSA. Outstanding high-grade example of this short-printed "Rare Leaf" rookie card featuring Cleveland Indians Hall of Famer Larry Doby. The 1948-1949 Leaf Bubble Gum card of Doby is the most popular and significant of all his cards. It is also a genuine rarity, being one of the 49 scarce cards in the 1948-1949 Leaf Gum Co. set. The offered card displays bold colors, a hint of natural toning, and four square corners with light wear visible at the tips. The image is centered toward the bottom left and slightly out-of-register (centering and minor registration issues are very common problems encountered with this series). The reverse is clean and free of staining and excess print. This is a very attractive high-grade example of Doby’s most classic card, worthy of the finest 1948-1949 Leaf set and a key rarity for an advanced Hall of Famer rookie-card collection.
