Description

One-page typed letter dated July 20, 1933, and signed by Hall of Fame second baseman Eddie Collins in his capacity as general manager of the Boston Red Sox. In his letter, on Boston American League Baseball Company letterhead, Collins writes to the team scout Jack McCallister. In full: Dear Jack: Wired you today to give me an opinion about Winford. Do not have to be in any hurry about it. I just heard some things about him and a couple of ball players of ours liked him quite well. Also have you nay opinion or have you seen enough of Radcliffe with St. Paul to write me about? Do not know that it is necessary to follow these fellows, but write me at your convenience any dope that you can obtain or thought you have about them. Sincerely. It is signed “Eddie Collins” in black fountain pen. The letter (8.5 x 7.25 inches), which has been trimmed along the bottom, has one horizontal and two vertical mailing folds, along with light creases. In Very Good to Excellent condition overall. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA.
