Historically significant award presented to Bill Russell of the University of San Francisco for being named a First Team All-American during the 1954-1955 season. Behind Russell's staggering season averages of 21.4 points and 20.5 rebounds, the Dons finished the campaign with a 28-1 record, capped off with a 63-47 victory over La Salle in the championship. Russell finished the 1955 NCAA basketball tournament as the tournament's leading scorer (118 points) and was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player. The plaque is inscribed to "William Russell/University of San Francisco" and is signed in black ink by basketball shoe pioneer Chuck Taylor. A complete list of the season's All-Americans is visible on the left. Measuring 8 x 11 inches, the plaque displays light age toning and minor handling wear. Excellent condition overall. Accompanied by a signed letter of provenance by Russell. Full LOAs from PSA/DNA and Steve Grad and Brian Sobrero/Beckett Authentication Services for the Taylor signature. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
