Behind Russell's staggering season averages of 21.4 points and 20.5 rebounds, the Dons finished the campaign with a 28-1 record, capped off with a 63-47 victory over La Salle in the championship. Russell finished the 1955 NCAA basketball tournament as the tournament's leading scorer (118 points) and was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player. The wooden plaque features a medallion reading "National Collegiate Basketball Championship" and a placard below reading "17th Annual Tournament '55 First Place." Measuring 9 x 13 inches, the plaque displays minor handling wear and is in Excellent condition. Accompanied by a signed letter of provenance by Russell.
