In 1934, the Goudey Gum Company began a sales promotion consisting of the establishment of a youth organization, called the Knot Hole League, which featured Lou Gehrig as the spokesman and president of the club. Membership in the club made youngsters eligible for prizes, which could be obtained only by the redemption of gum wrappers from the company's baseball-card issues. Offered here is a collection of four items relating to the Knot Hole League. This collection consists of the following: 1) Knot Hole League fold-out brochure, which outlines the Club's goals and benefits and also pictures the prizes which were available from the company, including the R309 standup premiums (3.25 x 6 inches, folded; Vg). 2) Membership card issued to Homer Ulrich (4.25 x 2.75 inches; Gd-Vg). 3) Knot Hole League felt patch (3.25 inches in diameter; Ex-Nm). 4) Original mailing envelope, addressed to Homer Ulrich (6.25 x 4 inches; Vg). Total: 4 items.
