Lot # 3319: 1968 Atlantic Oil Play Ball Game Complete Standard Set (40) Plus Five Proof Cards and One Unopened Pack

A total of fifty different players are known in this issue, with ten cards short-printed in order to limit the number of cash prizes awarded to customers. Consequently, a standard set is considered complete at forty "non-winner" cards. Presented here is a complete 40-card standard set. Most players can be found with two types of backs, one explaining the rules of the game (21 in this set) and one with a picture of a baseball scene (19 in this set). Also included are five proof cards (grade Ex-Mt overall) and one unopened pack (grade Nr/Mt). Issued in folded, lightly glued panels, cards from this set are notorious for border damage (both paper loss and extra paper that was pulled from other cards). As reflected in the following grading composite, this is a mixed-grade collection, with a few of the cards remarkably free of border damage. Condition is 52% Gd to Vg (including a couple better) and 48% lesser (mostly Pr to Fr due to border damage). Keys: Aaron (Vg), Clemente (Vg), Maris (Gd), Rose (Fr-Gd), and Yastrzemski (Vg).
