Description

Complete set of one of the 1960s great classics: 1961 Post Cereal. This complete set of 200 cards is composed of both company cards (60%, perforated cards available on sheets directly from Post via mail-in offer) and box cards (40%, available on cereal boxes and intended to be hand-cut). Included are both variations of the following twenty cards: #30, 51, 55, 57, 65, 91, 92 Killebrew, 93 J. Lemon, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 100, 109, 124, 142, 146, 153, and 190. Nine cards have been professionally graded and encapsulated by PSA. Overall condition is 33% Nr/Mt or better, 43% Ex to Ex-Mt, and 24% Vg to Vg-Ex (including 3% lesser). The preceding grades, as well as those in the composite below, are without respect to the neatness of the cut (all of the box cards are naturally hand cut and most of the company cards have been trimmed through the perforations rather than detached by hand). A small percentage of the box cards and most of the company cards would qualify for only "Authentic" if submitted for professional grading. Keys: #1 Berra (Ex-Mt, company), 4 Mantle (PSA Authentic, company), 7 Maris (Ex-Mt, company), 10 McDougald (Ex-Mt, box), 22 Wynn (Ex+, company), 23 Shaw (NM 7, box), 35 Kaline (Vg-Ex, box), 73 Estrada (Ex-Mt, company), 75 B. Robinson (Ex-Mt, company), 92a Killebrew/Minneapolis (Ex+, box), 92b Killebrew/Minnesota Twins (PSA Authentic, company), 93a J. Lemon/Minneapolis (Vg, box), 93b J. Lemon/Minnesota Twins (Vg-Ex+, company), 94 Stobbs (NM 7, company), 106 Mathews (PSA Authentic, company), 107 Aaron (Vg-Ex, box), 132 Clemente (Vg-Ex, company), 135 Virdon (Vg-Ex+, box), 145 Mays (PSA Authentic, company), 147 McCovey (PSA Authentic, company), 163 Roach (Vg due solely to very small tear of top edge, box), 167 Snider (Nr/Mt, box), 182 F. Robinson (Vg, company), 183 McMillan (NM-MT 8, box), 191 Banks (NM-MT 8, box), and 193 Thomas (Ex-Mt, company). This is a very attractive complete set of this scarce package-design issue, which is underrated, and compared to other sets of the era, extremely difficult to find as a set. Total: 220 cards.
