Description

Rarely offered example of an M101-2 Sporting News supplement featuring legendary Hall of Famer Ty Cobb. This sepia-tone premium set was issued with the Sporting News between the years 1909 and 1913. Each premium was issued on only a single day (August 12, 1909, in this case). Their method of issue and the thin paper stock on which they are printed make these unusual and striking premiums particularly susceptible to damage. Encapsulated as "Authentic - Altered" by PSA. This examples presents with various flaws, including creasing, edge tears, tack holes, and a chipped upper right corner but remains a very presentable example with a striking image of Cobb holding his bat. This example represents an exciting, relatively affordable opportunity to acquire a card-related Cobb supplement dating from his playing days. Dimensions: approximately 7 x 10 inches.
