Rickey Henderson Louisville Slugger signature-model ("T141") bat dating from the 1986-1989 manufacturing period. The bat, which is not cracked, displays evidence of moderate use, with batting practice ball marks visible on the barrel. Henderson's uniform number ("24") is written on the knob. Henderson has signed the bat in black marker on the barrel. Per PSA/DNA, "the bat is authentic, and was used by Henderson for batting practice during the referenced labeling period." Henderson quickly established himself as one of the game’s premier offensive players in 1980, finishing the season with a .303 batting average, 9 home runs, 53 RBI, 111 runs scored and a league-leading 100 stolen bases. Henderson would lead the league in stolen bases 12 times during his career, including a record 130 in 1982. Considered by many to be the greatest leadoff hitter in baseball history, Henderson retired in 2003 as the game's all-time leader in both stolen bases (1,406) and runs (2,295) and is one of only 33 players to amass 3,000 or more hits in his career. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2009, his first year of eligibility. Length: 34 inches. Weight: 30.8 ounces. Full LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA (for the bat, corresponding sticker affixed to the upper handle). Auction LOA from JSA/James Spence (for the signature). The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
