Description

Classic example of Willie Mays' rookie card, one of the most important of all 1950s bubble-gum cards. In addition to being one of the two key cards of the 1951 Bowman set, Mays is part of the scarce high-number series of the set (#253-324). Graded POOR 1 by PSA largely due to a staple hole near the bottom border and two spots of paper residue on the reverse. Despite these flaws, this remains a very attractive low-grade example of the 1951 Bowman Willie Mays rookie, which has long been recognized as one of collecting's most iconic cards, especially among postwar cards.
