Lot # 2532: 1962 Topps "Football Bucks" Complete Set (48)

Rarely offered complete set of forty-eight "Football Bucks" issued by Topps in 1962. "Football Bucks" were inserted in packs of 1962 Topps football cards. This extremely unusual set features player portraits on dollar bills measuring approximately 4-1/8 x 1-3/4 inches. A short piece of biographical information is printed to the left of the image, and the player's home stadium is printed to the right. On the reverse are the team and league logos. A fold line is natural to the issue. Condition is 18% Ex or slightly better, 44% Vg to Vg-Ex (including some due solely to centering), and 38% lesser. Keys: #2 Starr (100/0 T/B, otherwise Vg-Ex), 5 Hornung (next card showing, otherwise Nr/Mt), 7 Brown (Fr), 24 Unitas (Pr), 33 Tarkenton (next card showing, otherwise Vg), and 47 Ditka (Vg-Ex+). "Football Bucks" are quite rare. This set has yet to receive the attention it deserves as one of the most unusual, and one of the very few low production run Topps football issues of the early 1960s.
