Fleer issued four football sets during the early 1960s in an effort to compete with Topps' established efforts in the sport. The 1963 set consists of eighty-eight cards featuring AFL players and is highlighted by Hall of Fame rookie cards of Nick Buoniconti, Len Dawson, and Lance Alworth. The Fleer sets are far rarer than their Topps counterparts from the same era. Condition is 25% Nr/Mt or better, 53% Ex to Ex-Mt, and 22% Vg to Vg-Ex. Keys: #6 Long RC (Ex-Mt), 10 Buoniconti RC (Nr/Mt), 15 Maynard (Ex+), 23 Gilchrist RC (Nr/Mt+), 24 Kemp (Vg-Ex+), 36 Blanda (Ex), 47 Dawson RC (Vg-Ex), 62 Otto (Ex-Mt), 64 Dougherty SP (Vg-Ex), 70 Lincoln RC (30/70 L/R, otherwise Nr/Mt-Mt), and 72 Alworth RC (Vg). Very attractive complete 1960s Fleer football set, including many Hall of Famers and stars of the era. Total: 88 cards.
