Presented is a near-complete master set of 1955 Bowman baseball consisting of 320 different cards (out of 326), including five of the six variations in the set. Missing the following six cards for completion of a master set: #48a Milt Bolling/Frank Bolling back, 179 Aaron, 184 Mays, 202 Mantle, 206, and 242 Banks. Includes one duplicate (#48b). Condition is 35% Ex to Ex-Mt (including a couple Nr/Mt), 58% Vg to Vg-Ex, and 7% lesser (including a few that measure small and a few with color added). Eleven cards have been professionally graded and encapsulated by PSA. Keys: #1 Wilhelm (Vg+), 10 Rizzuto (Vg), 22 Campanella (EX-MT+ 6.5), 23 Kaline (Vg+), 33 Fox (Vg-Ex), 37 Reese (Vg), 38 Wynn (Vg), 59 Ford (Gd), 60 Slaughter (EX-MT 6), 68 Howard RC (EX-MT 6), 103 Mathews (Fr), 130 Ashburn (Vg-Ex+), 134 Feller (Vg-Ex+), 143 Newcombe (VG-EX 4), 158 Hodges (Vg-Ex+), 168 Berra (Vg+), 171 Roberts (Vg-Ex), 191 Lemon (Vg-Ex), 195b Palica/traded line (EX+ 5.5), 197 Kiner (Vg), 265 Barlick (Vg-Ex), 272 (EX 5), 275 (EX-MT 6 [MC]), 283 Chylak (Vg), 296 (EX-MT 6 [MC]), 303 Conlan (VG 3), 306 (VG-EX 4), 311 (VG 3), and 315 Hubbard RC (Gd+). The 1955 Bowman cards (Bowman's final baseball-card issue) have always been very popular due to their classic "television" style and inclusion of so many stars. The flush-to-the-border wood-grain design of this issue makes them very susceptible to corner and edge wear and very difficult to assemble as a complete set in high grade. Overall a very sharp-looking near-complete master set, with only a few problem cards. This is the type of vintage set that, to so many collectors, represents the very best value. Total: 321 cards.
