Presented is a very substantial collection of German-issue Garbaty Cigarettes cards featuring film stars. The grouping includes numerous Hollywood legends, including Gary Cooper, Joan Crawford, Greta Garbo, Jean Harlow, Sonja Henie, and Katherine Hepburn. Approximately half of this collection shows evidence of album removal on the backs of the cards, ranging in severity from barely visible glue residue to significant paper loss. Without further reference to the backs (and not including the one series graded separately below), the appearance of the fronts is 60% Nr/Mt or better, 17% Ex to Ex-Mt, and 23% lesser (mostly Vg to Vg-Ex). This collection consists of the following: 1) 1934 Garbaty "Moderne Schonheitsgalerie" Series 1 Near-Complete Set (298/300) Plus 138 Duplicates: Missing: #12 and 150 for completion. 2) 1934 Garbaty "Moderne Schonheitsgalerie" Series 2 Near-Complete Set (294/300) Plus 34 Duplicates: Missing the following six cards for completion: #116, 149, 162, 237, 246, and 269. 3) 1936 Garbaty "Galerie Schoner-Frauen Des Films" Near-Complete Set (212/224) Plus Nine Duplicates: Missing the following twelve cards for completion: #26, 59, 94, 100, 117, 125, 141, 144, 146, 176, 194, and 219. 4) 1937 Garbaty "Film-Lieblinge - Small" Partial Set (138/200) Plus Three Duplicates. 5) 1937 Garbaty "Film-Lieblinge - Large" (30 cards, including 28 different): 40% Ex or better, 23% Vg to Vg-Ex, and 37% lesser (including some solely due to glue residue on the reverse).
