Very substantial and attractive collection of complete and near-complete sets (5) issued by Heinz during the 1930s. Heinz produced several aviation-themed sets during this era "for the purpose of stimulating Young America's interest in aviation," as noted on the backs of cards from its "Famous Aviators" set. This collection consists of the following: 1) 1930s Heinz F277-1 "Famous Airplanes" Complete Set (25) Plus Album: Cards are pasted into album. #7 is a series 2 card. The album itself is in Very Good condition. Without reference to a bit of stray glue residue visible on most of the cards, the appearance from the fronts ranges from Fr to Ex-Mt (averaging Vg-Ex/Ex). 2) 1930s Heinz F277-1 "Famous Airplanes" Complete Set (25) Plus One Duplicate: Condition is 57% Ex to Ex-Mt (including a couple Nr/Mt), 31% Vg to Vg-Ex, and 12% lesser.Includes a duplicate of #10. 3) 1930s Heinz F277-2 "Famous Airplanes" Complete Set (25) Plus Five Duplicates: Condition is 23% Ex to Ex-Mt, 43% Vg to Vg-Ex, and 34% lesser. Duplicates (5): #1, 9, 12, 20, and 22. 4) 1930s Heinz F277-4A "Famous Aviators" Series 1 Near-Complete Set (20/25): Condition is 25% Nr/Mt or slightly better, 25% Ex to Ex-Mt, and 50% Vg to Vg-Ex (including a couple slightly lesser).Missing the five key rarities for completion: #2, 5, 7, 8, and 9. 5) 1930s Heinz F277-4B "Famous Aviators" Series 2 Complete Set (25) Plus 11 Duplicates and Two Albums: The 25-card complete set is pasted into one of the albums, the other album is unused. The condition of the completed album is Fair due to paper loss on the front cover. The appearance of the cards from the fronts ranges from Pr to Ex-Mt (averaging Vg and including a Pr-Fr #1 Lindbergh). The unused album is in Gd-Vg condition, with one staple missing and the middle eight pages detached from the remaining staple. Duplicates (11): #1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 14, 17, 18, and 19. Condition of the duplicates is two Nr/Mt, Ex, four Vg to Vg-Ex, and four lesser (including a Pr-Fr #1 Lindbergh). All cards in the offered sets are bright and clean. This is an outstanding assembly of these popular nonsport sets. Total: 137 cards and three albums.
